By now, many of you know that I have been following a developing story regarding the legendary Ken Berry (F-Troop", "Mama's Family", "Eunice", "Mayberry R.F.D."). It seems that the Mama’s Family star was involved in some sort of restraining order mess, not out of the ordinary for a man of his ilk. Here’s where the story gets strange. In reading the document, Mr. Berry requests a restraining order from HIS LEFT HAND. Yep, according to court documents, Mr. Berry alleges his LEFT HAND with “inappropriate touching and fondling of his genitals.” Berry goes on to request that his left hand be kept “at least 200 yards from his genitals at all times.”
Before I go further, I just want to make certain that it is clear to the reader that these are unsubstantiated allegations and that Mr. Berry's hand is presumed innocent until found guilty.
I caught up with Ken to get the inside scoop. As you can imagine he was hesitant to speak about the case saying “It has a mind of its own these days. I just can’t seem to control it. We were doing a reunion show at a mall in Moline (my hometown) the other day and I looked at Vicky and she was staring at me and pointing at my pants. As I looked down, there was my hand going at it with my penis like Rikki Tikki Tavi and a cobra or something like that. I really can’t say any more about the case… we are in litigation at this time and I don’t want to say anything that might hurt my case.” He did say that he considered asking the judge for some sort of home monitoring bracelet for his left hand, but didn’t think that would be reasonable. Berry’s left hand was unavailable for comment.
You might remember that Berry was involved in another scandal in 1982, when he was allegedly found on the balcony of the Stardust hotel in Las Vegas, in compromising positions with a blow-up doll of himself. Berry pled “no contest” to lewd behavior and has been banned from blow-up and stuffed dolls since that time.
