Other Cartoons Currently Being Protested

There has been a great deal of chatter regarding the outrage being displayed by Muslims regarding a recent cartoon depiction of the prophet Muhammad. On Wednesday morning a member of the Ulama Council appealed for peace, saying "Islam says it's all right to demonstrate but not to resort to violence. This must stop," said senior cleric Mohammed Usman. "We condemn the cartoons but this does not justify violence. These rioters are defaming the name of Islam."

What is left out of the message is that there are other cartoons currently being protested, here is just a short list.

One Muslim spokesperson, who wishes to remain anonymous was quoted as saying "the quality of comics in general has hit an all-time low. Have you read Broom Hilda or Shoe lately? Hardly a chuckle in either of them. I know this is going to sound like the media wonks that are always saying that Saturday Night Live has hit rock bottom, but you know something is wrong when you can read a week's worth of Hi and Lois and not have one single chuckle. This is a wakeup call for the industry. Give us quality or suffer the consequences."
