imagine this. A sister so accomplished on the piano that by age 5 she was playing to packed concert halls. Her brother, so inept with Lummi Sticks that during class his teacher would cover his sticks with towels so he wouldn't throw his classmates off.
So it would probably surprise you to learn that the brother is Ronnie James Dio, the former lead singer of Black Sabbath and leader of heavy metal band Dio a man many revere as a "rock god." The sister is Lonnie Jane Dio, a failed music teacher now working as a lunch lady at Elizabeth Ide grade school in Darien, IL.
So what is responsible for this reversal of fortune? "The devil," says Ronnie James. "While she was at church, I was working on my ELF, an album we released in 1972. I found it hard to write songs like Hoochie Koochie Lady when I was attending church."
