Whether or not the world needs a remake of Short Circuit is still open for debate. I know that I am still working through many of the subtle nuances and symbolism in the sequel. That said, Hollywood wants to remake the first Short Circuit and there is no guarantee that they will include Steve Guttenberg.
To me that is like remaking the television show According to Jim and replacing Larry Joe Campbell with some guy off the street. You just don't do that! How would you like to watch the next Peanuts special and see that Linus was replaced with a little Muslim boy or watch Jabberjaw and see that Clamhead was replaced by some other guy? That's not right, and I won't stand for it. Now that I have set the stage, share with me other movies or TV shows where replacing a character would just ruin the whole experience.
