Five Minutes with Gary Garrison, a former congressional page of Mark Foley
Drivel: How long have you known Mr. Foley and did you ever notice anything out of the ordinary?
Garrison: Thank you for your questions and concerns regarding Mr. Foley. It is true that I worked with Mr. Foley for over 5 years. During that time I never experienced what I felt was lewd or unacceptable behavior directed towards me from Mr. Foley.
Drivel: So, no one ever warned you about Mr. Foley?:
Garrison: Well…hindsight is 20/20. I did find it a bit odd that our office air conditioning was broken every summer. Instead of fixing the air conditioning Mr. Foley would send out messages stating that it was our “patriotic duty to conserve energy,” and direct us to “proudly show the flag.” The following morning we would find a thong emblazoned with the stars and stripes.
Drivel: Is there anything else you ever experienced that was a little different from your previous jobs?
Garrison: You have to realize that I was 16 and that I had never had a job before. I thought that Ball Gag Thursdays and Massage Mondays were a bit disconcerting, but decided not to say anything after I spoke to one of Roy Blunt’s pages. From what I understand, They had whip cream Tuesdays – Roy came with a spoon and a smile.
