From time to time I like to sit back and think about my days at Duke. The 1984-1985 season when I averaged .5 assists, the time we filled Marty Nessley's jock with Icy Hot or the time Jay Bryan decided to suit up as the mascot and let the mascot play in the game as Jay Bryan are the three memories that come to mind the most often.
This week I have found myself reflecting upon Coach K more than usual. A lot of people only see Coach K. as a coach and don't get to know Coach K the person. Here are my favorite Coach K. quotes.
5) We thought we had heard Coach K. tell Mark Alarie to "wax his dolphin." In reality Coach K. had asked Bobby to "wax his Datsun." We gave Alarie hell about that for weeks.
4) I can't remember the year, but after winning a game, Coach K. leaned over and told his wife, Mickie to get up to the hotel room and "put her whore on."
3) During a team dinner at Coach K's house, Coach K asked if anyone had ever smelled Dean Smith. He then said "Smith smells like old cold cuts, scotch and cat urine."
