There is absolutely no truth to the rumor that Mike Rutherford of Mike and The Mechanics fame, has recently formed a new band named Fart. The rumor goes on to say that the songs would be inspired by foods that gave Mike gas.
In digging in to the story more deeply it seems that the rumor of Fart was started by Glenn Frey and John Parr one night at an English pub. According to a studio Musician working with John Parr on a new Ovaltine commercial, Parr and Frey were in a pub when the song Can You Hear Me Running was played. Parr leaned over to Frey and said I can Fart better music than Rutherford can write. Glenn Frey's dry cleaner tells a somewhat different story, where it was Frey that said the song sounds like "a combination of a wilderbeast and a wood chipper." Either way, we won't be experiencing Fart anytime soon.
