Do You Remember When?

The beach didn't smell like french fries?
When the beach smelled like a beach and not empty beer bottles and used condoms?
I remember going to the beach once and it smelled like sun tan lotion. I didn't have to cautiously navigate the sand to avoid stepping on broken glass, needles, bottle tops, or false teeth. The beach was actually made of sand.
I remember being able to run into the water and not need to avoid swimming into floating salmon, empty Red Bull cans and improperly disposed diapers.

Back in the day it was also possible to find portions of the beach where Jay Z, and indistinguishable Latin music weren't blaring out of the speakers of some one's Emerson boom box.

Holy crap am I old.
