I have been receiving a lot of email asking me why I haven't discussed the Pope and what I believe is "next for the Pope." My guess is that his body will slowly deteriorate and then rot, while his spirit ascends to heaven where he will swear, drink, and fuck Marilyn Monroe like a sailor. Those are just random guesses, but I bet they are pretty accurate, knowing the Pope like I do.
Why haven't I commented much on the Pope? Because everyone else is. I haven't seen media coverage like this since the OJ trial. I actually saw one guy on TV state that this came as a complete surprise. Where the hell has he been for the last 5 years as this guy has been wheeled around all over the world? I saw a clip of him on TV from last year, when President Bush went to visit him. I couldn't understand a word either of them were saying. These were two of the most powerful leaders in the world. At least the Pope had an excuse.
I'm sorry to see him go. I used to love our Friday night card games of Rook and Uno. To this day I swear he kept a bunch of "Draw Four" cards in his crazy hats. I remember how much he liked to do his Father Guido Sarduchi impersonations. He was crazy -- or maybe just senile.
